A Very Happy Birthday to Boy Meets World's Rider Strong!

Happy Birthday to Rider Strong, who of course played the love of my life, Shawn Hunter, on Boy Meets World and is going to eventually be Uncle Shawn on Girl Meets World, even if he doesn't live in the crawl space. He has rocked the awesomest name in the world for 34 years today. If you want to really wish him a happy birthday - well, it's not very likely he reads this blog, so he has a better chance of seeing it if you maybe tweet him @riderstrong.

I was doing some research on search engine ratings when I noticed that Yahoo Autocomplete was totally insane. Typing in "Rider Strong never liked" returns some crazy results. Some favorites:

We know Rider Strong was on set for the pilot, too. They say Rider's just involved as a fan right now, but I have my own theory. A totally made up borderline fanfic theory. Weird Uncle Shawn lives in the crawl space. He occasionally comes down to drop words of wisdom, mostly to Riley about how awesome Cory actually is. Also, for some reason, he never wears a shirt. Yes, please.

I'm kidding, but it's actually genius. If Rider Strong goes to visit all the time, they could put him in an episode with nobody knowing. "Oh, Rider's on set? Just another Tuesday." And then, bam, a happy surprise for everyone.

How Rider Strong Learned to Love Shawn Hunter

As we know, Rider Strong wasn't super into being a teen heartthrob - he didn't even like his iconic hair - but in this Buzzfeed article, Rider opens up on what it's like for him to be Shawn Hunter.  He talks about a lot of things, really, from the mix-up that led to him and Danielle Fishel getting married on the same weekend to sharing some thoughts on Girl Meets World.  He talks about his name, and he even talks about Mr. Turner.  A little tease from the Mr. Turner part of the article: "I mean, it’s horrible that the last time we saw Mr. Turner he was in a hospital bed. But I don’t think anybody was consciously aware of that. It was like, ‘He’s not going to come back this week, maybe next week.’ That just turns into, ‘Oh, Tony never made it back’"

Rider Strong Never Liked Being a Teen Heartthrob?!

All my Teen Beat posters were a lie, as Rider Strong never even liked being a teen heartthrob, according to this Cosmopolitan article.  To quote Rider, "I'm not a shy person, but I'm not the guy who wants to get his picture taken and want to be front and center. "  He also went on to say how much he hated his hair.  Did this boy like anything I loved about him?  I'm starting to realize that I was in love with Shawn Hunter and not Rider Strong - but that's okay, I can appreciate him in a different way now.

As for Girl Meets World, Rider says he would like to direct.  How fun would that be!  He also says that since he was such a major part of Boy Meets World, he'll probably make an appearance but nothing is definite.

Welcome back, guys!  I like how different their entire wedding experience was.  Danielle had a big wedding and went to Hawaii for her honeymoon, and Rider had a small wedding and went camping from Oregon to LA.  Both sound epic.

And as Danielle points out, it's almost time to start production on GMW!  She can't wait - neither can we!

Danielle Fishel Sneak Got Married Today, Rider Strong Not Getting Married Until Tomorrow

One, I swear Boy Meets World stars are messing with me. Danielle Fishel got married today while it turns out Mr. Strong isn't getting married until tomorrow.

Two, do you think they're competing against each other? I would expect it from Shawn and Topanga, I really would.

Rider Strong Getting Married, Breaking Hearts of Former Teen Girls

Congratulations are in order for Rider Strong, who is marrying his long time girlfriend Alexandra Baretto this weekend. As you may remember, Danielle Fishel is also getting married this month. Rider's wedding is going to be for close friends and family, while Danielle's is supposed to be a large affair. I just wonder if they're on each other's invite list.

When asked for comment on Rider Strong's upcoming nuptials, former teen girls of the 90s sobbed over their Teen Beat posters of the actor, stating they couldn't be happier and it couldn't happen to a better guy and please excuse them as they tend to what's left of their dying youth.
